Aidil Usman born in Padang, West Sumatra, in 1970, is a highly accomplished choreographer, artistic director, and lighting designer. His career took off in 1989 when he relocated to Jakarta, where he left an indelible mark on numerous theater and dance performances. Apart from his choreography, Aidil is also an active painter and a member of the esteemed Jakarta Young Fine Arts Association. In 2019, he curated the Large Fine Arts Exhibition in Kalimantan under the banner “Kayuh Baibai,” with the endorsement of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Subsequently, in 2023, he orchestrated the “Merajut Kebangsaan Exhibition” in collaboration with the Jogyakarta Disability Biennale at the renowned Emeria Sonasa Gallery. Aidil is also the co-founder of Cikini Art Stage, an institution that passionately advocates for the rich appreciation of arts and culture by harmoniously bringing together diverse and interdisciplinary artists. Additionally, he holds the prestigious role of chairman of the Fine Arts Committee at the Jakarta Arts Council. Aidil has successfully collaborated with numerous well-known Indonesian artists, as well as international artists from Germany, England, and Canada.
